Optimi Health Corp. (Nasdaq: OPTH; CSE: OPTI; FSE: 8BN) has completed a production batch of pharmaceutical-grade MDMA intended to supply clinical and commercial programs in Canada, Israel and Australia.
The finished capsules were manufactured at Optimi’s Good Manufacturing Practice facility in Princeton, British Columbia, under the company’s Health Canada Drug Establishment Licence. Optimi said the batch contains enough product for a proposed Canadian Phase 3 trial, an approved Israeli clinical study and its next planned commercial shipment to Australia.
The Canadian study is expected to enroll up to 100 veterans and current or former frontline workers with post-traumatic stress disorder. Participants would receive two supervised sessions combining Optimi’s synthetic MDMA hydrochloride with psychotherapy, spaced several weeks apart.
The study’s primary efficacy endpoint will measure changes in PTSD severity using the Clinician-Administered PTSD Scale, known as CAPS-5. Optimi describes the trial as Health Canada-authorized but continues to refer to it as proposed. Enrollment has not started, and the company expects the study to begin in 2027.
“The medicine for that trial is already made,” CEO and co-founder Dane Stevens said.
The same batch is expected to supply an Israeli Ministry of Health-approved PTSD study operated through the Healing October 7th project in partnership with MAPS Israel. Optimi did not announce a shipment date or disclose the financial terms associated with that program.
The company also plans to export MDMA capsules to Australia before the end of 2026. Australia permits specifically authorized psychiatrists to prescribe MDMA for PTSD under the Therapeutic Goods Administration’s Authorised Prescriber Scheme. These products remain unapproved therapeutic goods and can only be supplied through controlled access pathways.
Completing production reduces one manufacturing requirement but does not provide evidence that MDMA-assisted therapy is safe or effective. Optimi did not disclose the batch size, production cost or potential revenue from the three programs.
Financial capacity improved following Optimi’s 2026 Nasdaq offering. The company reported C$13.07 million in cash as of June 30 after raising C$20.7 million in gross proceeds before offering costs.
For the nine months ended June 30, Optimi recorded C$239,700 in revenue, down from C$490,330 during the comparable period, and a net loss of approximately C$5.55 million. The offering strengthened the balance sheet but increased the company’s outstanding share count and diluted existing shareholders.
