Kane Biotech Inc. (TSXV: KNE) has announced the publication of a peer-reviewed study evaluating its revyve Antimicrobial Wound Gel in patients with chronic and complex wounds.
The prospective observational case series, published in the International Wound Journal, followed 17 adults with 28 wounds for up to 12 weeks. Wound types included diabetic foot ulcers, venous leg ulcers, pressure ulcers, surgical-site complications and traumatic wounds.
The wounds had been present for a median of 22 months and had not closed under previous treatment. Researchers used revyve as an addition to clinician-directed standard wound care rather than as a standalone treatment.
Mean wound-area reduction was 43.9% when calculated across individual wounds and 42.7% at the patient level. The proportion of wounds showing epithelial tissue increased from 25% at the beginning of the study to 68.8% at the final assessment, while the proportion containing necrotic tissue declined from 25% to 12.5%.
Average patient-reported pain decreased from 4.76 to 2.18 on a 10-point scale. The within-patient reduction was statistically significant, according to the paper. Increased tissue oxygenation was also associated with greater wound-area reduction among patients for whom imaging data were available.
“This peer-reviewed publication adds important real-world evidence to the growing body of research supporting revyve technology,” Interim CEO Robert Huizinga said.
The findings are preliminary. The study did not randomize patients or include a control group, and clinicians remained free to select other treatments as part of standard care. Consequently, the study cannot determine how much of the observed improvement was caused by revyve rather than concurrent care, differences among wounds or other patient factors.
The limited sample size and varied wound types also restrict how broadly the findings can be applied. Four of the paper’s five authors were affiliated with Kane Biotech. The authors concluded that the results support further evaluation in larger, controlled studies.
Kane is commercializing revyve products as wound-care devices designed to address bacteria and microbial biofilms. Its Antimicrobial Wound Gel, Wound Gel Spray and Skin and Wound Cleanser have received U.S. FDA 510(k) clearance. The gel and spray are also licensed by Health Canada. FDA clearance is not the same as approval of a new drug and does not establish superiority over competing wound-care products.
Commercial adoption remains at an early stage. Kane reported C$8,143 in second-quarter revenue, a net loss of approximately C$833,636 and C$854,729 in cash as of June 30, 2026. In October, the company accepted a C$250,000 unsecured, non-interest-bearing loan from its board chair for working capital. The loan is repayable on demand.

Sources include Kane Biotech’s November 4, 2026 announcement, the study published in the International Wound Journal, the company’s second-quarter financial results, its October 16 insider-loan announcement and publicly available FDA records. Information concerning revyve’s commercial potential and mechanism originated partly from Kane and has not been independently validated by Biotech Stocks Daily.
The published research was a prospective observational case series involving 17 patients and 28 wounds. It was not randomized, blinded or controlled, and revyve was used alongside clinician-directed standard care. The results demonstrate associations and do not establish that revyve caused the reported improvements. Four of the five authors were affiliated with Kane Biotech. Larger controlled studies are required to assess comparative safety and effectiveness.
FDA 510(k) clearance means the agency determined that the applicable device was substantially equivalent to an eligible legally marketed device. It does not represent approval of a new drug or establish clinical superiority. Health Canada licensing likewise does not guarantee commercial adoption or future sales.
Financial information reflects Kane’s position as of June 30, 2026, together with the company’s October 16, 2026 loan announcement. Kane reported limited revenue, continuing losses and reliance on external financing. Its May 2026 private placement involved 23.2 million units containing shares and warrants, creating dilution and the potential for additional dilution. The subsequent insider loan is repayable on demand.
